More ways to keep you in control

In a critical situation, we’ve helped take a few things off your mind with an Electronic Stabilisation Program (ESP) system. ESP helps ensure your vehicle goes where you steer it even in extreme driving conditions, by applying the brakes to individual wheels and adjusting the engine’s power output to correct skidding.

Stopping is just as important as starting

When you really need to stop, you need to stop quickly. So we fitted the Jetta with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist and Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution (EBD). ABS prevents the wheels from locking during heavy or emergency braking, helping to enable the vehicle to remain steerable. During the emergency braking, Brake Assist aids the driver by increasing the brake pressure automatically to a level exceeding the locking limit. EBD regulates the ratio of front/rear brake pressure to ensure each wheel is braked to the optimum extent.

Don’t forget your passengers

When considering the safety of your passengers, we started with a rigid safety cell. We reinforced it with high-strength steel. Front and rear panels are designed to crumple and absorb the impact. And then there are six airbags, including both front and side and curtain airbags.

Complete safety

Every element of the Jetta’s safety system has been designed to work together. The contoured front-seat head restraints are specially designed to help reduce whiplash injuries, with extra protection provided in the seatback that controls upper body movements. While the three-point seatbelts reduce chest impact. And they all work in conjunction with the six airbags (twin front, side and curtain), to help reduce severe head and chest injuries.
